Chronicling the years 146-78 BC, this is a well written book by Mike Duncan, the creator of the award-winning podcast series: The History of Rome, and Revolutions. If you have slept under the rock for the last 15 years, then make sure to listen to his podcast as well.

Garrett George Fagan was an Irish American historian and writer known for his research in the various areas of Roman history. He was Professor of Ancient History at Penn State University.
His lecture series on the History of Ancient Rome is not only highly educational, but engaging as well.
